How Much Is This Worth To Me?

What is this worth to me

How much is this worth to me?

How many times have you found yourself in a situation where you wonder, “What the heck did I get myself into now?” If you answered at least a couple times a week and sometimes even a couple of times a day, then welcome to the club!  You are among some of the most alive and growing people on the planet.

Sweet, huh?  How much is that little shot-in-the-arm worth to you?

“ALIVE, Russy?  Are you nuts?”

(I’ll take that as a rhetorical question)

I kid you not!  If you feel the pin-poke of life, you are ALIVE!  :)

“But you don’t know MY situation.  My boss is killing me!  My kids are killing me!!  My back is killing me!!!” I hear you say.

Yup, even in your worst moments – perhaps especially in your worst moments – that’s when you are the most alive and growing.  That’s comforting to know, isn’t it?

People who are truly living, constantly putting themselves out there, creating and making something of their existence, will inevitably find themselves juggling these two questions, “What did I get myself into?” and “How much is this worth to me?”

  • Maybe you have been roped into volunteering for that group in which you are only half-interested
  • It might be that you were put on the spot to accept yet another task to ‘help’ your boss or co-worker
  • If you are a parent, I *KNOW* you ask yourself these questions every day… even a couple of times a day

Why It’s Worth It to Ask These Questions

First of all, I don’t think it’s possible for anyone NOT to ask the two questions, “What did I get myself into?” and “How much is this worth to me?” As human beings, every one of us comes equipped with an inner emotional guidance system that literally let’s us ‘feel’ our way through life.

When we ask the first question, “What did I get myself into now?” it’s usually a warning signal to tell us that we are about to leave our well-planned path.  Even if you ‘planned’ to do ‘nothing’, that ominous crash caused by the kids in the kitchen will surely have you muttering exclamations – along with a few expletives – to yourself.

This brings us to decision time.  “What is this and what does it mean?” is very quickly followed by “What am I going to do about it?” The Law of Contrast kicks in as we see what we have and compare it to the ideal picture of what we want.  Our feelings are determined by how close or far those two pictures appear in our minds.

When your body is vibrating harmoniously, the answer to the question, How much is this worth to me to change?” might be slim to none.

However, when you are in the throws of a raging fit, How much is this worth to me to change?” veritably skyrockets.  You want something done and you want it done NOW!

(Am I the only one to ever experience this?)

Because It’s Worth It to Me

Think about why we do what we do.  Anything!  Really THINK about it.

As we discussed, we’re asking questions of ourselves with every breath we take.  “What is this and what does it mean?  What am I going to do about it?”

Sometimes – listen to me now… - sometimes it seems that we have no choice in the matter. Sometimes it feels like we’re stuck between a bad choice and a worse one.  But whether we do it consciously or not, we all make our own choices and our decisions are based on how we answer the question, “How much is this worth to me?”

Just yesterday I watched a video that beautifully sums up this whole concept of contrasts, choices and worth.  It’s present by Esther and Jerry Hicks, leaders in the Law of Attraction movement.

I should warn you, if you aren’t into Law of Attraction principles, this line of thinking may seem to be a bit too New Age-y or ‘Woo-woo’.  Esther is a channel for an other-world source of wisdom known as Abraham.

If you are a bit skeptical about this sort of thing, then you are in for a delightful surprise.  When you watch this video titled, “The Most Profound Question” you’ll realize that only an other-world source of wisdom could answer this ‘most profound question’ with complete clarity, totally unflustered.

I *KNOW* you’ll find the answer even more profound than the question.

“How much is this worth to me to watch this video” you ask?

See for yourself.  Be sure to leave a comment to let me know if this was ‘worth it’ to you.
